My Journey to Become a Young Professional Working in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Sector

មនុស្សមួយចំនួនបាននិយាយថា ខ្ញុំមិនសមនឹងមុខជំនាញនេះទេ ព្រោះខ្ញុំគួរតែរៀនមុខជំនាញផ្សេងទៀត ដែលពេញនិយម និងងាយស្រួលជាងមុខវិជ្ជានេះ ឧទាហរណ៍ធ្វើជាវេជ្ជបណ្ឌិត ព្រោះម៉ាក់ខ្ញុំជាគ្រូពេទ្យស្រាប់ ជាដើម។ លើសពីនេះទៅទៀត ពួកគេបន្ទោសខ្ញុំថា ខ្ញុំមិនអាចរកការងារធ្វើបានទេ បន្ទាប់ពីបញ្ចប់ការសិក្សា ប្រហែលជាខ្ញុំអាចធ្វើការតែជាមួយអ្នកស្តាលូ ឬបង្គន់ប៉ុណ្ណោះ។ ដោយសារតែហេតុផលទាំងនេះហើយដែលលើកទឹកចិត្តខ្ញុំយ៉ាងខ្លាំង ថាខ្ញុំត្រូវតែជោគជ័យទៅលើអ្វីដែលខ្ញុំបានជ្រើសរើសរួចហើយ។
ដំបូងខ្ញុំគ្រោងនឹងសិក្សានៅសាកលវិទ្យាល័យកំពូលដែលមានមុខវិជ្ជាវិស្វកម្ម ហើយខ្ញុំក៏ទទួលជោគជ័យក្នុងជំហានដំបូងនេះ ដោយឆ្លងកាត់ការប្រឡងជាប់ចូលសិក្សានៅសាលាតិចណូ។ បន្ទាប់មក ខ្ញុំរៀបចំគោលដៅរបស់ខ្ញុំដើម្បីក្លាយជាគឺវិស្វករផ្នែកទឹកនិងបរិស្ថាន ។ ដោយមិននឹកស្មានដល់ ខ្ញុំទទួលបានអាហារូបករណ៍ស្ត្រីផ្នែកទឹកស្អាតដើម្បីគាំទ្រដល់ការសិក្សារបស់ខ្ញុំលើមុខជំនាញនេះ។ បន្ទាប់ពីនោះ ខ្ញុំមានផែនការឬគោលដៅធំនាពេលអនាគត គឺខ្ញុំត្រូវទទួលរៀនឲ្យបាន GPA ខ្ពស់នៅឆ្នាំចុងក្រោយនៃសាកលវិទ្យាល័យរបស់ខ្ញុំ និងទទួលបានពិន្ទុខ្ពស់បំផុតលើនិក្ខេបបទរបស់ខ្ញុំនៅពេលដែលខ្ញុំបញ្ចប់ការសិក្សានៅសាលាតិចណូ។ ហើយបន្ទាប់មកខ្ញុំត្រូវបន្តថ្នាក់អនុបណ្ឌិតនៅប្រទេសដទៃទៀតដោយដាក់ពាក្យសុំអាហារូបករណ៍ដដែល។
និយាយជារួម ខ្ញុំចង់ជួយស្ត្រី កុមារនិងជនពិការទាំងអស់ក្នុងប្រទេសកម្ពុជាឱ្យទទួលបានទឹកស្អាតអនាម័យប្រើប្រាស់។ វិធីសាស្ត្រដែលខ្ញុំគ្រោងជួយពួកគេគឺផ្តល់ចំណេះដឹងទូទៅ ដូចជាបង្កើតជារឿងងាយៗសម្រាប់ពួកគាត់ ដើម្បីដោះស្រាយបញ្ហា និងជំរុញការប្រើប្រាស់ទឹកស្អាតនៅកម្ពុជានៅថ្ងៃខាងមុខ។
My name is Chuy Voucheng and I am a student at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia. Currently, I’m a nearly graduated student and I am majoring in Water and Environmental Engineering.
Everyone, do you want to know my reasons why and how I choose this major? Some people said that I am not suitable with this major. I should learn other major that is popular and easier than this one; for example, to be a doctor since my mom is a doctor. Moreover, they blame me I couldn’t find any job after my graduation, maybe I can only work with sewer or toilets. Because of these reasons, I strongly motivate myself that I must be success in the way that I already choose.
First, I planned to study in the top university that has engineering. Then, I got success in this step by passing the entrance exam to study in ITC. Second, I set up my goals to be in the water and environmental engineering field. Unexpectedly, I got a scholarship of women’s in WASH to support my studies in this field. Now, I have a big plan or goal in the future. I have to get a high GPA in the last year of my university and the highest score on my thesis when I graduate at ITC. And then, I have to continue my master’s degree in other countries by applying for the scholarship. Finally, I will find a job that is suitable for me to solve the issue of WASH.
Overall, I would like to help all women, children, and people with disablities in Cambodia to access safe water, sanitation, and hygiene. The method that I planned to help them is to provide general knowledge, creating simple things for them to solve their problems, and promote WASH in Cambodia.
